On 15 January 2019, H.E. Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Ambassador of Thailand to the State of Qatar, welcomed Thai business delegation led by Miss Suthatsanee Rajruangrabin, Deputy Director-General, Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. The delegation was briefed on the overall bilateral relations between Thailand and Qatar and opportunities for Thai business in Qatar. The delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, researchers from the Center for International Trade Studies (CITS), University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), and 11 Thai entrepreneurs, visited Doha during 15 - 19 January 2019 to conduct market studies and explore prospects for exporting Thai fruit and vegetable products to Qatar.
During the visit, the delegation participated in a business matching with leading supermarkets and food supply stores in Qatar, namely Lulu Hypermarket, Qatar National Import and Export (QNIE) and Mega Mart, to introduce Thai fruit and vegetable products to potential buyers and learn more about food market in Qatar.
In terms of bilateral trade, Qatar is currently Thailand's third largest trading partner in the Middle East. In 2018, the total value of Thailand's export to Qatar was 379 million USD, an increase of over 20 percent from previous year.
