On 12 July 2023, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, had a virtual meeting with Dr. Taweelarp Rittapirom, Director and President of Islamic Bank of Thailand and his team. Both sides discussed potential partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening banking and financial cooperation between Thailand and Qatar. They also explored ways to expand trade and investment in sectors where Thailand has significant capabilities, such as food security, medical and hospital services, energy and hospitality services. These sectors also align with Qatar’s key priority areas as outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030 and draft  Qatar National Food Security Strategy 2024 – 2030. H.E Ambassador expressed his readiness to support the Islamic Bank of Thailand in fostering close relations between the bank and its counterparts in Qatar. In attendance at the meeting were Mr. Kittithep Devahastin Na Ayuthai, First Secretary and Mr. Tanpong Wongboongird, Second Secretary.
