On 16 September 2024, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, hosted a Working Lunch for Mrs. Alisa Suparb, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi (which also has accreditation covering the State of Qatar) during her visit to Qatar from 16 – 18 September 2024.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged ideas on enhancing cooperation in the labour sector between Thailand and Qatar, focusing on alignment with Qatar’s development goals and labour demands. Key areas of discussion included the growing needs in food security and sustainable development sectors, which require semi-skilled and skilled labour across various fields, such as research and development, food processing, and high-tech industries. H.E. Ambassador also led the delegation to meet with more than ten Thai employees at the Banyan Tree Doha hotel, from Thai restaurant, spa, and management team, engaging in discussions to share insights and address inquiries about benefits and rights for Thai workers abroad.

The Royal Thai Embassy reaffirms its commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights and well-being of Thai labours in Qatar, ensuring compliance with both Thai and Qatari laws. This visit highlights the Embassy's ongoing efforts to foster close collaboration with the relevant Thai agencies responsible for overseeing Thai labours in Qatar.
