On 19 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, Mr. Trirong Wan-ar-ree, Minister Counsellor for Commercial Affairs of the Thai Trade Office in Tehran (accredited to Qatar), and Embassy official met with Mr. Shanavas Padiyath, Regional Director of LuLu Group Regional Office, and its Executives. Both sides discussed ways to enhance and promote economic cooperation, particularly by increasing the trade volume of imported agricultural goods, foods, and commodities from Thailand to Qatar. They also discussed organizing a trade promotional event for Thai products and commodities in Doha. This initiative is tentatively scheduled for May 2024. In addition, H.E. Ambassador also extend an invitation to LuLu Group Executives to attend upcoming trade fairs in Thailand in 2024 to further business opportunities with Thai entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture sectors.

The Thai Trade Office in Tehran is Thailand’s focal point for trade-related matters between Thailand and Qatar. This visit is part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to promoting tangible cooperation between Thailand and Qatar in mutual interests, especially regarding food security. The Royal Thai Embassy stresses the great importance of synergizing and close consultation between various authorities under Team Thailand to collectively enhance and protect national interests, as well as explore economic opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs in Qatar.
