The Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Dubai Office) and the Office of Commercial Affairs in Tehran (responsible for Qatar), organized a Thailand Exhibition to promote Thai tourism at Qatar Travel Mart (QTM) 2024, held from 25 – 27 November 2024. This Year, the Thailand Exhibition highlighted Thai tourism through three key dimensions; (1) Tourism Services, presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Dubai Office) and Orchid Holidays; (2) Medical Tourism, featured by Bangkok Hospital and the BDMS Wellness Group and (3) Wellness Products, showcased by two Thai local entrepreneurs, Aree Herb and Druggist 786. During the event, the Embassy organized a Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) demonstration at the Global Village stage, performed by professional Muay Thai instructors from the Qatar Sports For All Federation (QSFA) under the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Qatar. Both the Thai Exhibition and the Muay Thai performances garnered significant interest from over 10,000 attendees during the event.
On 25 November 2024, H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, inaugurated the opening ceremony of QTM 2024. H.E. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, attended the ceremony and engaged with prominent Qatari dignitaries to discuss tourism promotion, including H.E. Saad Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Businessmen Association and Mr. Khalifa Al-Haroon or “Mr. Q”, Qatari social media influencer.
The Royal Thai Embassy remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing Thailand’s economic interests and enhancing the country’s image as a premier destination for Qataris and expatriates in Qatar. The Embassy has been a continuous participant in QTM, Qatar’s largest annual tourism and travel exhibition, since its inception three years ago. The event serves as a platform for Thai businesses in the tourism industry to showcase their products and services, while fostering stronger business networks between Thailand and Qatar.
Building on the success of QTM 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with the Thai community in Qatar, the Thai Language and Thai Culture School in Qatar, and a group of Muay Thai instructors in Qatar, hosted the “Thai Souq Fest 2024: A Celebration of Flavors, Culture, and Muay Thai” on 30 November 2024. This event aimed to further promote Thai culture and tourism through the Thai community in Qatar, strengthen Thai popularity, and foster people-to-people connections. Several Thai exhibitors from QTM 2024 also participated in the Thai Souq Fest 2024.
