On 20 September 2023, H.E. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, hosted a working lunch for the delegation from Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, which included Dr. Saran Intakul, Deputy Hospital Director and Dr. Ahmed Afundee, International Affairs Manager. Mr. Kittithep Devahastin, Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, also attended.

During the luncheon, both sides exchanged views aimed at expanding collaborative networks between Thai medical institutions and their Qatari counterparts, particularly on strengthening ties with Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar's largest state medical facility, and ASPETAR, the Gulf region's pioneering sports medicine hospital. Additionally, they explored ways to position Thailand as a central hub for medical services in the long term.

Thailand has emerged as a preferred destination for Qatari citizens seeking specialized healthcare, annual health check-ups, and medical rehabilitation. Notably, Qatar has appointed a Medical Attaché in Thailand to facilitate the care of Qatari patients receiving medical treatment in the country. The Royal Thai Embassy remains dedicated to enhancing collaboration in the healthcare and medical services sectors while actively promoting Thailand as a premier medical destination.
