A Group of Over 50 Students of Thai Defence College made the 1st study tour to Qatar 24-26 January 2008. The visit was fully facilitated by Qatar Armed Forces with briefing on the hot spots in the Gulf and the Middle East never-ended crisis.

RUSI (Royal United Service Institute of UK on Defence and Security Studies) in Qatar, welcomed the group as its first guest since its opening three weeks earlier. The Group was introduced of the Institute and regional situation from the western world view.

The RUSI-Qatar was the first and only branch abroad of RUSI in UK (since 1831) The Group was also joined by the Ambassador to add the view on the importance of Qatar and Middle East to Thailand’s interests.

Full night dinner at the residence of the Ambassador was to refuel the Group prior to the next destination in Himalayas.
