The Royal Thai Embassy, together with leading hotels in Doha,  jointly organised Songkran Festivals (Thai New Year)  in April 2013.  The events included Songkran Festival on the Beach on 13 April 2013 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel as well as  Songkran Festival on 14 April 2013 at Movenpick Tower&Suites, where the Thai Food Festival until the end of April 2013. There were cultural performances organised by the Royal Thai Embassy at both events.
