On 13 October 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai community in Qatar organized a ceremony to pay homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej to mark one year anniversary of his passing. His Excellency Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand, delivered a tribute speech to the late King. After that, the attendants sang the Royal Anthem and the Buddhist attendants did the prayer and meditation as a homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. On this occasion, a special prayer composed by Somdet Phra Vanarata, the abbot of Bowonniwet Vihara Temple, was also prayed as a homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Over 80 Thai nationals and Friends of Thailand in Qatar attended the ceremony.
