On 26 October 2017 at 14.30 hrs. (local time), the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai community in Qatar organized a Sandalwood Flower Laying Ceremony to pay respect to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the day of the Royal Cremation Ceremony in Bangkok at the Embassy’s premises. During the Ceremony, His Excellency Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand, delivered a tribute speech to the late King, lit the Royal Fire and led the attendants to lay the Sandalwood Flower in front of the portrait of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Carlos Velasco Mendiola, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the State of Qatar and former Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the Kingdom of Thailand, as well as Mrs. Haruhi Otsuka, spouse of H.E. Mr. Seiichi Otsuka, Ambassador of Japan to the State of Qatar, also attended the Sandalwood Flower Laying Ceremony.
 
The full-hearted contributions were well received from the Thai volunteers, Thai businesses and Thai community living in Qatar who helped organizing and making this solemn occasion a memorable one. Three hundred forty Thai nationals and Friends of Thailand in Qatar attended the Ceremony.
