On 23 November 2018, Thai Language and Culture School in Qatar organized Loy Krathong Festival 2018 at the Royal Thai Embassy’s premises to promote the Thai culture of paying respect and thank the river spirits, specifically “Phra Mae Khongkha - Goddess of Water”, for the water we use in our daily lives as well as to ask for forgiveness for polluting water. Many activities were featured during the event such as Krathong making contest, Noppamas beauty contest and Thai traditional dance show. The event was well-participated by the Thai community and expatriates living in Qatar. The School’s activities not only teach the Thai youths abroad to understand origin and root of the Thai culture, but also teach them the importance and necessity of preserving environment.
