From 2 - 3 October 2024, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, along with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, welcomed H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, and high-level officials, which included H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce, senior officials from both ministries, and other distinguished representatives, to participate in the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Doha, Qatar.

During the summit, H.E. Prime Minister of Thailand and her delegation joined representatives from 35 member countries to discuss critical issues, such as addressing global challenges and geopolitics, fostering unity, promoting private sector engagement, and creating a favorable environment for finance and trade. They also discussed cooperation in tourism, cultural exchange, energy, climate change mitigation, and enhancing infrastructure connectivity, including transport and digital networks. Moreover, Thailand’s role in the ACD will expand further in 2025 when the country assumes the ACD Chairmanship for one year. Thailand aims to transform the ACD into a premier Forum of Asia and serve as a bridge builder, aligning the interests of member countries to promote peace and shared prosperity through tangible cooperation. Moreover, H.E. Prime Minister of Thailand also held bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including the Presidents of Iran and Tajikistan, as well as the Crown Prince and Deputy Amir of Kuwait, to discuss strengthening partnerships across various fields.

On 3 October 2024, H.E. Prime Minister of Thailand had an audience with H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar, and held talks with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. Both sides discussed deepening cooperation in various areas, with a particular focus on Thailand's potential in a service-based economy and Qatar's strengths in a knowledge-based economy. They explored opportunities for collaboration in trade and investment, education exchanges, food security, technology partnerships, and the development of AI applications, data centers, and intelligence systems to support key industries such as aviation, logistics, and supply chain management.

H.E. Prime Minister of Thailand also expressed her gratitude to Qatar for its pivotal role in mediating the release of Thai hostages and requested continued Qatari assistance in negotiations for the release of the remaining Thai nationals. She reiterated Thailand’s concern over the regional situation that affects innocent civilians, underscoring the importance of adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter. Thailand remains committed to supporting diplomatic processes that foster lasting peace.

This historic visit marks the first overseas trip for H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, since taking office and the first visit to Qatar by a Thai Prime Minister in 12 years. The Prime Minister is also the youngest and only female leader at the summit, highlighting her pivotal role in advancing Thailand-Qatar relations and laying a foundation for long-term cooperation between the two nations. The Royal Thai Embassy will continue to build upon these initiatives and strengthen Thai-Qatari collaboration across all dimensions for the benefit of Thailand and its people.
