On 26 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Ahmad bin Hitmi Al-Hitmi, Chairman of the Qatar–Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Shura Council of Qatar.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the close and longstanding relations between Thailand and Qatar and explored avenues to further enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation, including the possibility of exchanging parliamentary visits.

H.E. the Ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties as Thailand and Qatar celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, particularly through closer collaboration between the Thailand–Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Groups at both bilateral and multilateral levels. He also commended Qatar’s constructive role in addressing international issues and expressed appreciation for its support in ensuring the safety and well-being of Thai nationals in the Gaza Strip. In addition, H.E. Ambassador provided information and updates related to the Thai-Cambodian border situation, reiterating the Thai Government’s position in upholding international law, the ASEAN Charter, the principle of good neighborliness, as well as the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and relevant bilateral mechanisms. H.E. the Chairman reaffirmed the Shura Council’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Thailand and its readiness to work closely with the Royal Thai Embassy to further deepen the partnership across all dimensions.
