On 13 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, as the Chair of ASEAN Committee in Doha for 2025, led the Ambassadors and Charge d’Affaires of ASEAN member states’ diplomatic missions in Qatar in a joint courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Qatar. The delegation included representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The meeting served as an introductory engagement following H.E. Dr. Al-Sayed 's recent assumption of office and provided an opportunity to discuss ways for strengthening economic cooperation between ASEAN member states and Qatar. During the discussion, H.E. Ambassador Swangsilpa highlighted ASEAN’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing regions and its strategic significance in global trade and investment. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing ASEAN-Qatar trade relations, emphasizing mutual opportunities for collaboration. Additionally, H.E. Ambassador underscored the potential for strengthening Thailand-Qatar economic relations, particularly in key sectors where Thailand’s expertise aligns with Qatar’s strategic priorities, including renewable and alternative energy, food security, and human security.

As the Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Doha for 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy remains committed to further enhancing ASEAN’s visibility in Qatar, strengthening cooperation among ASEAN member states, and fostering close collaboration between Qatar and ASEAN countries through constructive initiatives.
