On 8 October 2022, the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) and the Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP Qatar) co-organized a clean-up initiative at the Singing Sand Dunes, located 40 km southwest of Doha. The initiative demonstrated the ACD’s support to DEAP Qatar in promoting sustainable development and preserving the environment in conjunction with Qatar Sustainability Week, a national campaign which takes place from 8-15 October 2022, and in line with the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint 2025, which envisions the people-centred and environmentally friendly ASEAN Community.

The initiative was attended by the ACD Head of Missions, namely from the Embassy of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam. In addition, 135 participants from the ASEAN diplomatic missions, their family members, and the ASEAN community volunteered for the initiative.

The ACD would like to thank DEAP Qatar, Al Wakra Municipality, and the ASEAN Community for supporting the initiative, and we hope that it will spark greater interest and raise public awareness for environmental conservation and waste reduction.
