On 2 September 2025, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, warmly received senior researchers from Environmental Science Center Qatar University, consisting of Prof. Jassim Al-Khayat, Principal Investigator and Manager of Research Vessel and Prof. Ponnumony Vethamony, Research Professor and UNESCO Chair, at the chancery.

Both sides discussed a potential project to exchange expertise on mangrove conservation and restoration between Thailand and Qatar. The Royal Thai Embassy stresses its commitment to fostering academic collaboration and knowledge exchange in areas where Thailand’s expertise aligns with Qatar’s priorities, laying a foundation for deeper bilateral relationship between Thailand and Qatar in environmental conservation and other dimensions.
