On 24 January 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar, organised trees planting activity at Celebration Hall, Al Daayen Municipality. The event was part of the "Plant Million Tree" initiative which was launched by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in 2019 and was held in conjunction with the Thai community's voluntary activities to commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Thailand’s Father’s Day on 5 December 2020.  H.E. Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Ambassador of Thailand to the State of Qatar, Mr. Fahid Mohamed Al Kaabi, Head of Garden Section and Acting Director of Service Affairs at Al Daayen Municipality, Mr. Mohamed Badr Salm Alkhdr, Agricultural Engineer, Services Affairs Department, Al Daayen Municipality, Mr. Nopadol Penglong, Chairman of the Committee of Thai Community in Qatar, Miss Kongkan Chitratanachinda, Principal of Thai Language and Culture School in Qatar, together with officials and staff of the Embassy, Thai community in Qatar, and officials and engineers of the Public Parks Department participated in the activity.

At the event, the Ambassador of Thailand praised Qatar's initiative and commitment in preserving the environment as a parallel efforts made by the Thai Government towards the  same objective.

"As part of the community of expatriates living in Qatar, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai Community in Doha are very proud to take part in this initiative which not only helps increase green spaces across the country but also contributes to Qatar's global commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emission. The event also helps raise awareness, both home and abroad, on environmental preservation and the impacts of climate change. This is in line with Qatar's strategy for sustainability and environmental development which represents the fourth pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030," said the Thai Ambassador.

"Plant Million Tree" initiative was launched by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment under Qatar’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. The initiative aims to promote biodiversity, improve the country’s air quality, and increase the green patch to reduce gas emissions. The Royal Thai Embassy in Doha expresses its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the Public Parks Department, Al Daayen Municipality for their continued effort in successfully implementing this initiative.
