On 3 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy, welcomed and met with Mr. Kantaphong Rangsisawang, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, and the Thai delegation on the occasion of their visit to Qatar to attend the 2nd World Summit on Social Development, held in Doha from 4 - 6 November 2025. H.E. Ambassador exchanged views with the Permanent Secretary and members of the delegation on Thailand’s ongoing efforts to advance social development and promote human security, both domestically and through cooperation with international partners.
On 4 November 2025, H.E. Ambassador attended a side event titled “Education as the Foundation of the New Social Contract: Reimagining learning to end poverty, create decent work, and achieve inclusion for all”, where Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser delivered opening remarks underscoring the importance of education as the foundation of social development and a key pillar in advancing social progress and ensuring human security. H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, was also present at the event.
H.E. the Ambassador further attended another side event titled “People at the Centre of Inclusive and Sustainable Development: Challenges and Opportunities for Building a Society for All Ages – Experiences from Asia and the Pacific”, co-hosted by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, Government of Azerbaijan, Government of Indonesia, ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), and Tsao Foundation. The discussion highlighted policy and innovative practices to address challenges arising from demographic changes in the Asian region.
The World Summit for Social Development is a global conference organised within the framework of the United Nations to foster inclusive, equitable, and sustainable social progress. The Summit serves as key international platform for policy dialogue, partnership, and collective action towards improving people’s well-being, ensuring human security, and achieving social justice for all.
