On 15 April 2026, Mr. Kit Devahastin, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy, attended the 74th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Huy Hiep, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the State of Qatar, in his capacity as Chair of the ACD for 2026. On this occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed appreciation to the Committee for its support during Thailand’s chairmanship in 2025, as well as for the continued cooperation and mutual assistance extended in supporting ASEAN nationals affected by the ongoing developments in the Middle East. He also reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to support ACD activities throughout 2026, across various dimensions aimed at promoting ASEAN’s active role in Qatar and strengthening people-to-people. These efforts include enhancing economic and trade cooperation, strengthening political and security collaboration, and promoting environmental awareness.
