On 31 March 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy, in cooperation with the Thai Community in Qatar, organized Songkran Festival 2017 at the Embassy’s premises. On this occasion, the Embassy invited Phradhammabodhivongsa, Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and Head of Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Thai Missionary in India-Nepal, Phrakittisophonvides, Head of Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Thai Missionary in Australia-Oceania, Phra Piyoros Kanavuttikul, Secretary of Wat Thai Buddhagaya, to deliver Dhamma preaching to the Thai people living in Qatar. In addition to this, the offering of off-season robes for the Buddhist monks, the sprinkling of water onto a Buddha image, Buddhist monks and seniors for their blessing also took place. Over 250 Thai people living in Qatar participated in the event. Later on 2 April 2017, the Residence of Ambassador was opened for the Thai people to receive the preaching and practicing the meditation with the three Buddhist monks together with Phraprommasith Sukkho, Abbot of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan, and Phrawisuttisasanavides, Assistant Abbot of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan.
