On 15 September 2026, H.E. Ms. Pensom Lertsittichai, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, attended a reception to commemorate ASEAN Day 2026 at the Waldorf Astoria West Bay Hotel. The event was hosted by the Embassy of Viet Nam, in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) for 2026. The reception was attended by representatives from various Qatari sectors, including members of the diplomatic corps, Fire Station Gallery, Qatar University, and local media.
As part of the reception, ASEAN Member States presented an exhibition promoting environmental conservation and sustainability, reflecting shared priorities between ASEAN and Qatar. The exhibition featured scale models of iconic architectural landmarks from ASEAN Member States, created using recycled materials.

The Royal Thai Embassy also promoted the participation of the Thai community in Qatar in ACD’s activities, providing an opportunity for Thai students and their families to engage in creative and collaborative activities. Thailand's exhibition featured scale models of Wat Arun Ratchawararam and the Giant Swing, and the Museum of Islamic Art. The models were created by students, parents, and teachers of the Thai Language and Culture School in Qatar, together with Thai students from Institute of Religious Studies Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys.

The ASEAN Committee in Doha currently comprises the Embassies of seven ASEAN Member States represented in Doha: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Viet Nam, and Thailand. The Committee works collectively with various Qatari stakeholders to advance cooperation in peace, security, economic development, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.
