On 21 September 2026, H.E. Ms. Pensom Lertsithichai, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Al-Johara Yousef Fakhro, Director of Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on the occasion of her assumption of duty. Mr. Kittithep Devahastin Na Ayuthai, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, also attended the meeting.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on ways to further advance the longstanding and close relations between Thailand and Qatar, with particular emphasis on strengthening high-level exchanges as important mechanisms for setting strategic directions and translating shared priorities into concrete outcomes. Both sides highlighted the potential for further cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including food security, energy, trade and investment, tourism, innovation, artificial intelligence, health and wellness, environment and sustainable development.

The two sides also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful settlement of disputes. Ambassador of Thailand expressed appreciation for Qatar’s constructive role in advancing dialogue and mediation in support of peace and stability on the international stage. She also reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to further support and deepen Qatar’s engagement with ASEAN, particularly in the lead-up to Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.

H.E. Al-Johara Yousef Fakhro, Director of Asian Affairs Department, reaffirmed Qatar’s readiness to work closely with Thailand and to support the work of the Royal Thai Embassy. Both sides expressed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation at the bilateral and regional levels, while continuing to promote close and enduring ties between the peoples of Thailand and Qatar.
