On 12 May 2026, Mr. Kit Devahastin, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. Both sides discussed ways to further enhance Thailand-Qatar cooperation across various areas, particularly sustainable development, education, health, and food security, in line with the sustainable development priorities and foreign policies shared by both countries.
During the discussion, the Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. commended Qatar’s constructive role in development cooperation and humanitarian assistance for vulnerable groups worldwide. He also extended an invitation to H.E. the Director and senior officials of the Department to visit Thailand to engage with relevant Thai agencies, particularly Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), strengthen practical cooperation networks, and undertake study visits on Thailand’s development projects in areas of interests to the Qatari side, both bilateral and trilateral cooperation frameworks.
The Chargé d’Affaires, a.i further reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to promoting development cooperation between Thailand and Qatar. In recent years, the Embassy has continuously organized activities to strengthen academic and technical cooperation between the two countries, including in the areas of sustainable development, waste upcycling, sustainable eco-tourism, and the conservation of mangroves and coastal resources. H.E. Mr. Al-Aseeri also reaffirmed the Department’s readiness to further enhance cooperation with Thailand on various areas of interest, particularly through exchange of experts and training programs between the two countries.
