On 14 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, together with Dr. Winai Dahlan, the Founding Director of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University (HSC), Dr. Anat Denyingyhot, Assistant Director of HSC, and Embassy officials, met with senior representatives from the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a center for learning and entrepreneurship in science and technology, not only in Qatar but also beyond.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the support for research and innovation in Qatar and Thailand, emphasizing alignment with market needs and national priorities. They explored ways to promote collaboration in capacity-building for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (SMEs), a crucial driving force in the economy, especially in fostering innovative potential for tangible economic benefits. Furthermore, they discussed the promotion of Thai entrepreneurs' participation in various activities carried out by QSTP, aiming to create networks with start-ups and SMEs in Qatar and the Middle East.

The Royal Thai Embassy underscores the importance of supporting networking opportunities between Thai authorities and their counterparts in Qatar to exchange knowledge and best practices, fostering cooperation and mutual benefits. This meeting represents a significant opportunity for Thailand to learn from Qatar's experiences in developing an entrepreneurship and innovation-driven economy, which could be adapted to Thailand's socio-economic development priorities. This will further advance research efforts and ultimately generate tangible economic benefits for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in Thailand.
