On 19 May 2024, H.E. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, hosted a working lunch for a delegation from Samitivej Hospital. The delegation included Dr. Surapong Lookhanumanjao, Business Development & Project Director for Samitivej and BNH Hospitals and Hospital Director of Samitivej Chinatown Hospital, as well as Ms. Minami Namiza, Supervisor of International Affairs Division, Cell and Gene Therapy Center and Head of Global Bone Marrow Transplantation Center. Both sides exchanged views on expanding collaborative networks between Thai medical institutions and their Qatari counterparts, particularly focusing on advanced genomics research and precision medicine. They also discussed ways to promote Thailand as a center for specialized medical services in the long term.

The Royal Thai Embassy is committed to promoting and enhancing Thailand as a global medical and wellness hub. Thailand has been a preferred destination for Qatari citizens seeking specialized healthcare and annual health check-ups. Notably, Qatar has appointed a Medical Attaché in Thailand to facilitate the care of Qatari patients receiving medical treatment in the country.
