From 13-15 September 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy had the pleasure of welcoming and collaborating with Dr. Winai Dahlan, Founding Director of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University (HSC), and Dr. Anat Denyingyhot, Assistant Director of HSC. Together with their counterparts in Qatar, they organized a series of activities. Those included academic seminars on "Thailand’s Shariah-Compliant Innovation" and discussions on various aspects of collaboration with high-level executives from Qatar's education and research institutions, including Qatar University, Qatar Foundation, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and Qatar Science and Technology Park. Additionally, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Sira Swangsilpa to discuss ways to further academic cooperation between Thailand and Qatar.

These activities have been successful and well-received, with over 30 participants, including diplomats from various embassies in Qatar, research and innovation institutions, and Qatari media. HSC emphasized Thailand's progress and dedication to developing cutting-edge innovations to enhance the safety and Halal standards of Thai products and beyond. This initiative also showcased Thai innovations in food adulteration testing, developed and patented under HSC, and encouraged knowledge exchange in various dimensions, particularly in networking and future collaborations within their respective countries. Furthermore, during meetings with senior executives from Qatar's education, research, and innovation institutions, both sides discussed and reiterated mutual interests and readiness to expand cooperation with HSC and other Thai agencies. They discussed promoting collaboration and financial support for advancing research projects into commercial services and products. These areas encompass food adulteration testing, green industry/smart farming, food security, and business opportunities for Thai and Qatari entrepreneurs.

This marks the first joint endeavor of the Royal Thai Embassy and HSC, providing an excellent opportunity to expand academic, scientific, and technological cooperation between Thailand and Qatar. Moreover, the Royal Thai Embassy is committed to laying the foundation for future mutually beneficial outcomes in education and knowledge exchange, science and innovation, both bilaterally and trilaterally. This commitment, aligned with Thailand’s priority agendas and Qatar’s Vision 2030, extends to developing human resources, including experts, researchers, students, and small and medium-sized enterprises, and fostering economic benefits between Thailand and Qatar.
