The Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, in collaboration with selected award-winning Thai restaurants in Qatar, has organised “Thailand on a Plate: A Culinary Journey,” an exclusive culinary diplomacy initiative showcasing Thai culture and heritage through the art of Thai cuisine. The cooking classes were held 3 – 24 August 2026 at four leading Thai restaurants in Doha, namely Benjarong (Dusit Doha Hotel), Isaan (Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas), Thai Kitchen (Centara West Bay Hotel & Residences), and Saffron (Banyan Tree Doha Hotel), the initiative welcomed more than 60 participants including members of the media, diplomatic corps, and the public. Participants learned how to cook Thai food and gained an understanding of the story behind Thai cuisine, including traditional cooking techniques, unique ingredients, Thai culture, and the balance of flavors, as well as concepts of well-being and health—all key characteristics of Thai food.

Thailand on a Plate: A Culinary Journey builds upon the Embassy’s ongoing collaboration with Thai restaurants in Qatar through flagship initiatives, including Thai Souq Fest 2024, Thai Restaurant Week 2025, and Together at the Table 2026. These programmes highlight the important role of food in strengthening cultural exchange and people-to-people connections between Thailand and Qatar.

Through culinary diplomacy, the Royal Thai Embassy remains committed to fostering greater understanding, appreciation, and people-to-people ties between the two countries - one shared meal at a time.
