H.E. Ms. Pensom Lertsithichai, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, welcomed H.E. Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Vice Minister of Commerce, and her delegation during their visit to Qatar to attend the World Investment Forum 2026, held 25 - 27 October 2026 under the theme “Investing in the Future”. On 25 October 2026, H.E. Ambassador attended the opening ceremony, presided over by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
During the Forum, H.E. Vice Minister delivered remarks at the Investment Ministerial Roundtable, highlighting Thailand’s investment climate, economic potential, and investment opportunities. She also participated in the panel discussion “The ASEAN Dialogue: Regional Integration and Investment Nexus”, underscoring ASEAN’s role in regional economic integration and sharing Thailand’s experience in trade and investment within the region. In a separate discussion, “Risk Sharing in a Turbulent Era: Collaboration and Innovation”, she presented Thailand’s approaches to navigating global economic and political uncertainties, with emphasis on collaboration and innovation in navigating an increasingly volatile investment environment. In addition, H.E. Vice Minister also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, to exchange views on strengthening trade and investment relations between Thailand and Qatar. H.E. Ambassador and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy also attended the meeting.
Co-hosted by the State of Qatar and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Investment Forum is a major international platform bringing together approximately 7,000 participants, such as Prime Minister of Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment of Kuwait, Egypt, Secretary General of ASEAN, and Secretary General of UNCTAD, to discuss global investment trends, sustainable development financing, and the changes posed by geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
The Forum provided an important platform for the Thai delegation to showcase Thailand’s economic potential and investment opportunities to international stakeholders, while strengthening networks with government agencies, international organisations, and the private sector worldwide. These engagements could help attract foreign investment, connect potential investors with sectors in which Thailand has competitive strengths, and advance trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Qatar, as well as other countries, particularly in high-growth sectors such as the digital economy, innovation, clean energy, and sustainable development.
