On 20 January 2025, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, paid a visit to Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, a prominent player in Thailand’s health and wellness industry operating in Qatar.

 

During the visit, H.E. Ambassador met with Mr. Basel Shammout, Head of Operations and Advisor to the Chairman and Mr. Ammar Samad, General Manager, and the resort’s executives team. The discussions focused on promoting health and wellness tourism in Qatar and the broader Middle East region. H.E. Ambassador received an overview of the resorts, which officially opened in 2022 as a joint venture between Qatar's Msheireb Properties and Chiva-Som, an internationally renowned wellness resort in Thailand. The briefing also highlighted the Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM) and its application for rejuvenation and therapeutic purposes, a practice that has gained popularity among Qataris and residents of the wider region. As part of the visit, H.E. Ambassador participated in mangrove planting at the resort’s Mangrove Education Center. This initiative aligns with the resort’s collaboration with local Qatari authorities to conserve and restore the country’s coastal ecosystem, contributing to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
