On 9 November 2023, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar and his spouse hosted a dinner for Professor Gerd Nonneman and his spouse at the Ambassador’s residence. During the event, they exchanged insights on educational and foreign services institutions in Qatar, along with current developments in the Middle East.

Professor Nonneman served as the Dean of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and is currently a Professor of International Relations and Gulf Studies at Georgetown University in Qatar. He previously visited Thailand as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand from 26 – 28 September 2016, where he delivered a lecture on "The Gulf States in a Changing Middle East Environment: Politics, Economics, and Foreign Policy" at the Ministry and on "Dynamics of Change in the Middle East: Politics, Economy, and Foreign Policy" in the seminar at Thammasat University.
