On 20 November 2023, Mr. Kit Devahastin, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy, attended the opening ceremony of the Qatar Travel Mart 2023 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center during 20 – 22 November 2023. The trade fair brought together tourism businesses from Qatar and over 30 other countries, with the participation of tourism promotion agencies, both domestic and international, as well as representatives from the public and private sectors. The Tourism Authority of Thailand Dubai Office, responsible for Qatar, along with Thai entrepreneurs, represented Thailand at this event. Additionally, Bangkok Hospital participated, promoting wellness and medical tourism, as Thailand has become a popular destination for Qatari nationals and expatriates seeking medical services. Thailand booths attracted hundreds of visitors throughout the three-day event.

During the event, the Royal Thai Embassy organized a Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) demonstration on the Global Village in cooperation with professional Muay Thai trainers from the Qatar Sports For All Federation under the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Qatar.

The Royal Thai Embassy stresses great importance on activities that promote Thai interests and strengthen Thailand’s presence as a quality tourist destination for both Qataris and expatriates living in Qatar. Furthermore, the Embassy supports the promotion of Muay Thai in Qatar, showcasing it not only as a productive exercise but also as a unique element of Thai culture.
