On 1 October 2026, H.E. Ms. Pensom Lertsithichai, Ambassador of Thailand to Qatar, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Sara bint Abdullah Al Saadi, Director of Human Rights Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on the occasion of her assumption of duty. Mr. Kittithep Devahastin, Deputy Head of Mission (Counsellor), and officials from the Human Rights Department also attended the meeting.

The two sides exchanged views on ways to promote and further strengthen Thailand–Qatar cooperation in the field of human rights, recognising the importance of enhancing State capacity to promote, protect, and uphold human rights as an important foundation for sustainable socio-economic development. The discussion covered a range of areas, including their common policies and challenges in promoting the rights of women, children, persons with disabilities, and persons in vulnerable situations, as well as human rights in business and sport. They also discussed emerging human rights challenges, including climate change, human trafficking, transnational crime and the implications of digital technologies for human rights.

Both sides further exchanged views on strengthening international cooperation mechanisms on human rights, as well as opportunities for sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices between relevant institutions of the two countries, with a view to developing more substantive and comprehensive Thailand–Qatar cooperation in the field of human rights.
