On 19 October 2023, H.E. Mr. Wong Chowming, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the State of Qatar paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, on the occasion of H.E. Wong’s assumption of duty. Both sides discussed the overall relations between Qatar and countries in the Southeast Asian region, as well as regional and international developments. H.E. Swangsilpa welcomed H.E. Wong to Qatar and emphasized the close relations between Thailand and Singapore, where both countries share mutual interests as ASEAN member states with close cooperation with Qatar in political, security, economy and social issues.

ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is a political and economic union of 10 Southeast Asian countries that consist of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Currently, there are 7 ASEAN member Embassies located in Qatar, representing Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
