On 16 July 2024, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, met with Mr. Badr Al-Kuwari, Director of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Youth and Sports of the State of Qatar, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, CEO of Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA).
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in youth and sports development between Thailand and Qatar, with a particular focus on promotion of Muay Thai in Qatar. The QSFA, an independent entity under the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the State of Qatar, is responsible for promoting sports and physical activities among all citizens and residents of Qatar. Recognizing Muay Thai as a key sport for promoting health and well-being in Qatar, QSFA currently employs five Thai professional Muay Thai instructors to conduct demonstrations and training sessions.
The Royal Thai Embassy expresses its readiness to strengthen cooperation with Qatari authorities on youth and sports development, particularly in Muay Thai, to foster deeper understanding of Thai culture and identity, and to promote people-to-people exchanges.
